南韓的「中東呼吸症候群冠狀病毒感染症（MERS）」疫情擴大，基隆市衛生局積極整備防疫工作，五月廿七日已發函轄區醫療院所、醫師公會，請提高警覺，加強旅遊史、職業別、接觸史及群聚情形（T.O.C.C）問診，並落實感染控制措施與因應準備。

衛生局八日上午召開第一次應變工作小組會議，將持續密切監測國際與國內疫情、落實入境疑似個案健康監測及加強民眾衛教宣導，以加強民眾對防治MERS的正確認知外，並盤點基隆市現有的所有防疫資源。

衛生局表示，將陸續針對轄區內所有醫療院所，進行無預警院內感控措施及TOCC問診情形抽查，以加強及落實醫院危機處理與應變處置之能力，及時有效掌控疫情避免發生及蔓延。

衛生局長吳澤誠八日下午帶隊到基市傳染病應變指定醫院-基隆醫院實地視察疑似病例篩檢、通報及收治等作業動線及流程，基隆醫院王文彥院長就醫院應變準備情形進行說明，經視察該院已做好物資及應變整備，以因應未來疫情之發展。

吳澤誠也提醒民眾，前往MERS流行地區應養成勤洗手、戴口罩等良好衛生習慣，並應避免接觸駱駝或生飲駱駝等動物奶，如非必要應避免前往醫療院所。

曾前往中東流行地區或南韓首爾各級醫療院所，且回國後十四天內出現發燒症狀者：請主動撥打「一九二二」免付費防疫專線，遵循防疫人員指示就醫，並告知旅遊史與接觸史。
